Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company approved for Ohio sportsbook
HOFV has gained licensing for both retail and mobile sportsbooks.
Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company (HOFV) has announced that it has secured conditional approval for mobile and retail sportsbooks in Ohio. This would give the company a new US market for its pro-football focused content.
The Ohio Casino Control Commission provided the required authorization for HOFV to gain licensing for a retail sportsbook – as well as an online betting platform – under Ohio’s sports betting law HB29.
Sports betting is set to launch in Ohio on New Year’s Day, 2023, when everyone of legal betting age (18+) will be able to start placing wagers.
HOFV President and CEO Michael Crawford commented: “The legalization of sports betting in Ohio, opens up a breadth of opportunity across our company’s three business verticals and for our fans.
“We will have the only physical sports book in Stark County and the first dedicated sports microbetting platform via the Betr mobile app, bringing fans and guests a multitude of different and new ways to experience sports entertainment.”
Betr was launched in September and marketed as the “world’s first micro-betting sports app” and HOFV is its official partner. The company also previously announced a 10-year partnership with Rush Street Interactive (RSI).
The HOFV/RSI retail sportsbook will be named ‘BetRivers Sportsbook’ and will be located in the Hall of Fame Village’s Fan Engagement Zone – a sports and entertainment-themed promenade in Canton, Ohio.
Meanwhile, the HOFV/Betr mobile sportsbook will enhance the sports fans experience by offering consumers a seamless way to place their bets online throughout Ohio. The Betr app has already proven to be highly popular since its launch, ranking in the Top Ten Free apps in the sports category on the Apple App store.
