Casinos in Detroit report $106.1m in monthly aggregate revenue
Three casinos’ table games and slots fell 6.9% in August compared to last year.
August saw three Detroit casinos total $106.1m in aggregate revenue for the month, a 6.9% decrease in table games and slots from the same time last year.
Table games and slots generated $104.48m in revenue while retail sports betting produced $1.66m.
Market shares came in at MGM Resorts with 48%, Motor City at 31% and Hollywood Casino at Greektown at 21%.
Compared with August of 2021, revenue from table games and slots fell across all three casinos.
MGM Resorts was down 3.7% to $50.31m, MotorCity fell 11.5% to $32.33m and Hollywood Casino at Greektown dropped 6.7% to $21.84m.
Detroit casinos paid $8.5m gaming taxes in the month of August to Michigan state compared to $9.1m paid during the same month last year.
The casinos also reported submitting $16.5m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to Detroit during August of 2022.
Retail sports betting qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) rose slightly, just 0.8% over August of 2021.
MGM Resorts QAGR totaled $701,876 while MotorCity totaled $382,147 and Hollywood Casino at Greektown amounted to $578,830.
Detroit casinos reported a total retail sports betting handle of over $11m while total gross sports betting receipts were $1.66m for the three retail sportsbook locations.
Sports betting gaming taxes paid to the state of Michigan by the casinos totaled $62,856.
These casinos also paid $76,824 in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the city of Detroit for the month of August.
