Churchill Downs Incorporated signs multi-year content deal with FanDuel
The agreement includes Kentucky Derby sponsorship and wagering rights to horseracing content.
Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) and FanDuel have signed a multi-year agreement that involves FanDuel’s television businesses, sports wagering and advance deposit wagering (ADW). Under the terms of the deal, FanDuel will have wagering rights to CDI’s horseracing content, including television rights to its thoroughbred racetracks, as well as rights to Kentucky Derby content.
CDI CEO Bill Carstanjen said the company is excited about partnering with FanDuel and the opportunity to engage with new horseracing fans.
He commented: “We look forward to working with FanDuel to deliver premium horseracing content to their expansive base of sports wagering customers.
“We are confident that FanDuel’s market approach teamed with our expertise and technology will seamlessly deliver horseracing content and pari-mutuel wagering solutions to a significant number of new fans.”
As part of the deal, CDI will grant FanDuel specific media and television rights to racing content through FanDuel’s networks and will authorize wagering on controlled horseracing content.
Beginning in 2023, FanDuel will also be granted a non-exclusive sponsorship of the Kentucky Derby for an annual fee.
FanDuel CEO Amy Howe said: “With the launch of FanDuel TV last week and the upcoming integration of premier racing content into our market-leading sports book, we believe this is an inflection point in our ability to offer our customers a seamless wagering experience with a single wallet.
“We are especially pleased that we will be able to offer wagering on the most exciting two minutes in sports, the Kentucky Derby, and that we will have exclusive broadcast rights to the Churchill Downs Incorporated family of tracks on FanDuel TV. We look forward to creating new audiences for horseracing.”
