Poker to remain unavailable once Wynn casinos reopen
Social distancing creating a new dawn for Wynn Resorts.
Wynn Resorts will not initially offer poker in selected casinos once they reopen, after being closed in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to Bloomberg, the popular vertical won’t be available in Wynn’s Las Vegas or Boston casinos, due to COVID-19 concerns, with poker played behind a protective mask thought not to be viable.
Instead, poker will be available in a later phase of reopening.
In Wynn’s Encore Boston Harbor resort, dice game craps will only be allowed to be played in the high-limit area, where crowds are usually smaller to limit contact during the pandemic.
Speaking on Bloomberg Radio, president of Encore Boston Harbor, Brian Gullbrants, said: “We don’t in any way want to do anything we can’t execute as safely as possible.”
According to the American Gaming Association, all 989 commercial and tribal casinos were closed in the US due to COVID-19, with 934 still closed and 55 reopen.
Earlier this month, Wynn Resorts operating revenue for Q1 2020 fell 42% to $953.7m.
