Farrah Fawcett NFT to drop at Resorts World Las Vegas

The move is one of the town’s first forays into the digital art craze.
From New York to LA and beyond, NFTs are having a moment, dropping left, right and center. Things are no different in Las Vegas, where the Farrah Fawcett Foundation and MORE Management will be displaying an NFT image of the late starlet at Resorts World Las Vegas.
The display is happening ahead of a sale on May 17-23.
The image in question is the world-famous image of Fawcett in a red swimsuit. The photograph, shot by Bruce McBroom in 1976, was the most ubiquitous pin-up of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Eventually selling 12 million copies, it is considered to be the highest selling poster of all time. And it is now an NFT.
An NFT, or non-fungible token, is a blockchain-based proof over ownership over a digital asset, such as a digital Nike sneaker or, in this case, Fawcett’s visage.
There will also be special editions of the digital image that have been reworked by NFT artist, Elise Swopes.
The move at Resorts World marks one of the first times an NFT has been dropped in Las Vegas and is sure to increase the city’s profile in the eyes of the cryptocurrency world, which is inextricably linked with the digital art ownership certificates.
At the resort, the NFT will be displayed on enormous screens, including a 100,000 square-foot West Tower LED screen, a screen so large that it is visible on the Strip from across the valley.
Speaking on the matter, Resorts World Las Vegas President Scott Sibella had the following to say: “Working with companies like MORE Management furthers our commitment to be the most technologically advanced resort on the Strip and explore opportunities in crypto.
“We are excited to use our incredible LED assets to showcase this NFT collection.”
The Farah Fawcett Foundation – which supports HPV-related cancer research – will be the beneficiary of the protest of the sale.
