Playtika partners with Laurence Fishburne for WSOP commercial campaign
Fishburne narrates and witnesses the journey of the commercial’s protagonist, “StanDaMan.”
Playtika, a mobile gaming company, has partnered with Hollywood actor Laurence Fishburne in a new national advertising campaign for the World Series of Poker (WSOP). The campaign started February 3.
“The Legend of World Series of Poker” commercial features Fishburne as a witness and narrator of the story of WSOP player “StanDaMan.”
The character is on a mission to attain a digital version of the WSOP championship bracelet. StanDaMan’s surroundings change from an American diner to a medieval, royal dining hall.
The commercial follows a theme of transforming ordinary circumstances into a chance to become a WSOP legend. The WSOP game includes virtual chips but not real prizes, and features game modes, tournaments and special events. It is for entertainment purposes only.
“It was a really interesting offer to join the project. It came to me, and I thought ‘I had to be a part of this,’” Fishburne said. “I’m aware of WSOP and am fascinated by the gamesmanship of it. I’m thrilled to be a part of this game, and hope people enjoy my presence and that it can give them some joy!”
