AECN secures property title for Bariloche union cottages

Argentina’s Asociación de Empleados de Casinos Nacionales (AECN), the labor union representing workers from state-operated casinos and related activities, has obtained the official Certificate of Property Registration for the lot where its Bariloche cottages are located.

The argument was concluded after an extended legal dispute that lasted for more than 15 years.

According to the union, the judicial process to recover formal ownership of the property began under the administration of former leader Jorge Baino, continued through the leadership of Daniel Méndez, and was finalized under the current board. 

The cottages have been part of the union’s recreational infrastructure for decades, used as a family retreat space for members and built in part to prevent unauthorized occupation of the land during the years the property title remained in dispute.

AECN described the resolution as the closing chapter of a story spanning more than 40 years for casino workers. The organization thanked members who supported the claim across successive administrations, as well as union activists who helped construct and maintain the cottages while the case advanced in court.

With the title now formally registered in the name of the union, AECN stated that it will assume the full civil and administrative responsibilities associated with property ownership and begin planning the next stage for the site. 

The association emphasized that the outcome strengthens its long-term commitment to providing welfare, recreational and community-support facilities for casino workers and their families, alongside its core role in labor representation and collective bargaining within Argentina’s gaming sector.

AECN noted that the Bariloche property will remain a symbol of union identity and a benefit for its members, marking what it called a “new chapter” in the management and future use of the site.
