Authorities in Buenos Aires Province dismantled an illegal online gambling operation in the cities of Chacabuco and Junín, detaining multiple individuals and seizing electronic equipment used to facilitate unlicensed betting platforms.
The operation targeted administrators and cashiers accused of promoting illegal online casinos and sports betting sites through social media channels.
The investigation, led by the DDI Junín police unit, began with digital forensics and criminal intelligence work that identified online networks advertising unauthorized gambling services. Officers detected promotional content linked to unlicensed casinos and betting platforms operating in breach of Argentina’s gaming regulations.
Police from the Chacabuco Investigations Group gathered evidence from the illegal platforms and identified those allegedly involved in the scheme. As a result, multiple search warrants were executed at the suspects’ residences, leading to the seizure of computers and electronic devices used to manage the operation. The equipment will now undergo forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
The detainees face charges under Article 301 of Argentina’s Criminal Code, which relates to offenses connected to unauthorized gambling activities. All individuals have been placed at the disposal of judicial authorities.
The case underscores continued enforcement efforts against illegal gambling in Argentina, where gaming regulation is managed at the provincial level and operators must obtain valid licenses to offer services legally. Authorities noted that social media has become an increasingly common tool for unlicensed operators to recruit customers.
