Ute Mountain Casino opens sportsbook
Ute Mountain Casino Hotel in Towaoc, Colorado launched its first-ever retail sportsbook Tuesday August 24 using IGT’s PlaySports platform.
Located in the southwestern corner of Colorado, Ute Mountain is Colorado’s first tribal gaming facility.
“It was an exhausting, long process,” Rick Scheer, Ute Mountain general manager, told The Journal. “We’re just so pleased we’ve gotten to the finish line.”
The Journal reports that the sportsbook will include three betting stations and four self-service kiosks along with 16 55-inch LED screens and a 98-inch LED screen showing events and odds.
“Our experienced trading team will ensure Ute Mountain Casino maximizes the full potential of the PlaySports platform’s integrated Player Account Management module and create compelling offers and promotions that will help build player loyalty and drive growth,” said Enrico Drago, IGT PlayDigital Senior Vice President. “IGT PlaySports has been processing sports wagers in Colorado since the first day of legalized sports betting in the State and we look forward to extending that momentum with Ute Mountain Casino.”
The casino will soon begin rolling out its own mobile sports betting app called UteBet. The app will initially only be accessible on casino grounds.
Ute Mountain’s biggest challenge may be attracting casual sports bettors to the casino’s retail sportsbook rather than those customers wagering on their mobile device.
Colorado’s monthly sports betting handled is consistently dominated by mobile, more so than in other states.
Ute Mountain has the advantage of being located near the Four Corners borders of New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah, giving the casino access to potential sports bettors in several states.
