Fubo Gaming prepares for rollout of Fubo Sportsbook
fuboTV launches today on LG Smart TVs in the US.
Fubo Gaming, Inc., a subsidiary of fuboTV, Inc., on Monday took the next step toward its planned premier of Fubo Sportsbook in Q4 of this year via a partnership with LG Electronics.
The parties unveiled the launch of the fuboTV app on LG’s webOS Smart TVs (2018-2021 models) in the US.
Starting today, LG customers can view more than 100 sports, news and entertainment channels from fuboTV, a sports-focused live TV streaming platform. Users of LG Smart TVs can access a free trial of fuboTV by scanning the QR code on the fuboTV app.
The company bills the fuboTV platform as a cable TV replacement product. Subscribers can stream more than 100 live television channels, including 42 of the top 50 Nielsen-ranked networks across sports, news and entertainment.
fuboTV, which operates in the US, Canada and Spain, said it intends to add interactivity to its streaming experience with the launch of a predictive free-to-play gaming app in Q3 2021.
The company said in a statement its goal is “to turn passive viewers into active participants and define a new category of interactive television” through a “sports-first live TV experience” featuring premium content, interactivity and integrated wagering.
Fubo Gaming described Fubo Sportsbook as a “comprehensive sports entertainment experience through sports betting and interactive gaming.” Its pending launch still is subject to obtaining requisite regulatory approvals.
The fuboTV app on LG Smart TVs will allow up to six users within a subscription to personalize their experience by creating their own customizable guide, recording any available series, and recording all games for a specific team, all on recordings that never expire.
LG said its 2021 OLED TVs feature webOS 6.0, the latest version of the company’s smart TV platform, featuring built-in Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and offering access to many of the most popular streaming apps.
