- Experts involved include Francisco González leading a public talk on gambling and Débora Blanca, a psychologist specializing in gambling addiction
Two initiatives will take place, addressing online risks, problematic consumption and issues affecting youth well‑being in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 3.
In Trenque Lauquen, the local Government has started a cycle of prevention and awareness campaigns on specific topics involving young people and families. The first themes addressed are “problematic consumption” and gambling, among others.
Emilia Cueli, the Municipality’s Director of Gender, Childhood, and Adolescence, said: “The two topics selected for this month are part of the activities for Mental Health Month, and they were organized in response to concerns and requests that have been received by the Department regarding specific issues and situations occurring in the city.”
One event in this campaign is a community talk on 3 October at the Skate Park, aimed especially at adolescents and youth. The campaign will continue with a public talk specifically on gambling the following week, led by specialist Francisco González.
Good to know: The city of Rosario, Argentina, has launched a program in collaboration with local sports clubs and neighborhood institutions to address youth gambling and betting concerns
Meanwhile, Fundación La Nación, the NGO associated with one of the country’s leading newspapers, has organized a free virtual event alongside UNICEF, offering tools for parents and educators to accompany children in the use of screens and interaction with digital content.
The event seeks to address early exposure to harmful content, influencers promoting risky habits and specifically the issue of online gambling, and will feature Débora Blanca, a psychologist specializing in gambling addiction, as a speaker.
