Former Grover Gaming Founder and CEO launches new Valicy Gaming entity

Light & Wonder’s acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable gaming assets was officially completed on May 19 for $850m in cash, along with a potential earn-out of up to $200m.

Following the acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable gaming assets by Light & Wonder in May 2025, former Founder and CEO Garrett Blackwelder has unveiled a new Valicy Gaming entity in the hopes of becoming a “major manufacturer” for land-based gaming in North America.
“This is an exciting time for our teams,” Blackwelder said.
“We have the opportunity to do big things in new markets, which gives us energy and enthusiasm. As we grow Valicy, we will focus on relationships, excellence and innovation.”
Light & Wonder’s acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable gaming assets was officially completed on May 19 for $850m in cash, along with a potential four-year, revenue-based earn-out of up to $200m in additional cash.
“Grover Gaming has established itself as a leader in the fast-growing charitable gaming space,” Light & Wonder President and CEO Matt Wilson said at the time of announcement.
“Bringing their assets and expertise into our ecosystem aligns perfectly with our strategy to expand into complementary regulated markets. This addition enhances our position as the leading global cross-platform games company and opens new opportunities to deliver our world-class content to even more players.”

Valicy Gaming, unveiled during a recent company launch party held in North Carolina, retained a majority of previous Grover Gaming employees and will hold its public debut at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, scheduled for October 6-9.
The executive leadership team for Valicy Gaming will focus on game development and hardware design in the near future, as well as offer new products to casino partners and operators throughout G2E.
