There has been an update regarding the case concerning allegations that Henrique deliberately received a yellow card during a 1 November 2023, match against Santos to benefit sports betting activities.
Following a request from Flamengo for the statute of limitations in the possible match-fixing case against Bruno Henrique, the 1st Disciplinary Commission of the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) decided, in a majority vote, to reject the statute of limitations of the complaint from the Prosecutor’s Office of the Court.
On August 1 2025, the STJD Prosecutor’s Office denounced Bruno Henrique and four others for match-fixing involving sports betting. If convicted, Henrique could have received up to two years of suspension, in addition to a 24-match suspension and a fine of up to BR200,000.

In addition to Bruno Henrique, the Prosecutor’s Office denounced four additional amateur athletes including Wander Nunes Pinto Júnior, Claudinei Vitor Mosquete Bassan, Andryl Sales Nascimento dos Reis and Douglas Ribeiro Pina Barcelos.
Before judging all merits of an investigation, the 1st Disciplinary Commission evaluates any preliminaries of the case, including a possible statute of limitations. The final tally resulted in a 4-1 vote to reject the preliminary request.
Now, Henrique has been suspended for 12 matches and fined BR$60,000 by the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) after a disciplinary hearing on September 4, 2025.
The STJD’s decision was based on Articles 243 and 243-A of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice, which address fraudulent conduct intended to influence match outcomes.
