The Santa Fe Lottery in Argentina has launched a campaign aimed at preventing gambling among minors under the motto #NoGarpa (#NoGain) at two of the province’s leading soccer clubs, Newell’s and Central.
The initiative seeks to raise awareness about the seriousness of gambling, highlighting prevention through education and reflection as a key measure.
The event featured psychologist Rafael Sancho, a specialist in sports psychology, who delivered a talk for young athletes and sports mentors.
During his presentation, Sancho discussed the risks of illegal betting on unauthorized platforms, the challenges of problematic gambling and the potential impact on athletes’ sporting performance, family life and social relationships.
Daniel Di Lena, EVP of the Santa Fe Lottery, said: “We are very pleased to start this series of talks on the risks of digital betting. Running the Santa Fe Lottery puts us in regular contact with a wide range of organizations and institutions, but our relationship with the province’s clubs has been particularly strong.
“That connection motivates us to bring initiatives like this to the community, which we plan to expand across the entire province.”
Good to know: The Government of Santa Cruz, Argentina, has brought together several ministries and institutions to discuss gambling among minors and develop prevention strategies
In addition to the event, the campaign aims to provide institutions with tools to support athletes, coaches and the wider sports community in identifying and preventing the risks of illegal online betting, especially among young people.
Di Lena added: “This silent problem requires specific and concrete actions. Through the #NoGarpa campaign, we aim to reach young people with a clear message about an issue that is widely discussed today.”
The presentation included the testimony of Agustín, a young man from Rosario who recently shared his experience with gambling addiction and his ongoing recovery.
