Illinois casino revenue climbs to $167.5m for July 2025

The Illinois Gaming Board has released the state’s casino activity for July 2025, including a total revenue of $167.5m which equates to an increase of 23.3% from the prior year period and was led by Rivers Casino Des Plaines which generated $44.1m and grew 6.2% year-over-year.
Wind Creek Chicago accounted for nearly $18.8m of the state’s total revenue for July 2025, while Grand Victoria Casino and Hard Rock Casino Rockford generated monthly revenue figures of $12.3m and $12.8m, respectively. Bally’s Chicago, Full House Resorts – Illinois and Harrah’s Joliet Casino & Hotel also eclipsed the $10m mark for July 2025, generating $10.5m, $10.8m and $10.6m, respectively, throughout the period.
Electronic gaming devices (EGDs) were reported to have accounted for the majority of revenue for July 2025, producing almost $127.6m for an increase of 21.3% from the prior year period. Table game revenue also witnessed growth year-over-year, rising by 30.3% for a total of $39.9m throughout the month.
According to the Illinois Gaming Board, the state was paid nearly $38.5m in tax allocations from casino operators, representing an approximate $8m increase from the allocations reported for July 2024. Local communities in which the properties are located reported collections of $10.5m for July 2025, rising by close to $2m year-over-year.

On June 12, DraftKings sportsbook began imposing a $0.50 transaction fee for all mobile and online sports wagers placed in Illinois following a similar decision made by Flutter, the owner of FanDuel, in response to lawmakers recently increasing the tax on sports wagering for operators.
House Bill 1928 is set to introduce a $0.25 per wager tax for the first 20 million wagers taken by a respective sportsbook in the state, increasing to $0.50 per wager for all additional bets.
The DraftKings per wager transaction fee will go into effect on September 1, 2025, as the operator stated it “continues to support collaborative policymaking that works for the state and allows for the long-term sustainability of the industry.”
Fellow sportsbooks such as Fanatics and BetMGM have also followed suit in introducing new fees and minimum requirements for customers to offset potential losses.
