The future of Enjoy’s casino operations in Chile could shift as the country’s gaming council meets to rule on the operator’s request to exit its Viña del Mar, Coquimbo and Pucón concessions eight years ahead of schedule.
The current contract is set to expire in 2036 but Enjoy has requested to terminate it by 2028 under Article 46 bis of Chile’s Casino Law regulations.
This legal mechanism allows licensees to withdraw from their contracts with at least three years’ notice, provided they continue to meet all operational and legal obligations during that period.
If approved, the change could have significant financial implications, particularly in Viña del Mar, where the municipal government strongly opposes the move due to the lost revenue.
The municipality is urging the Consejo Resolutivo, which is composed of representatives from Chile’s financial markets commission, tourism, finance and regional development, to enforce the full term of the contract.
