Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) has officially presented its $5.5bn integrated resort project to the state’s Community Advisory Committee, potentially including 6,000 slot machines, 800 gaming tables, 2,000 hotel rooms, a 7,000-seat arena and over 30 food and beverage outlets as part of the bid.
“We’re proud to have grown with the Queens community for nearly 15 years. What the Community Advisory Committee heard today was a vision for a transformative project that will be a game-changer for this borough, the city and the state,” Genting Americas East President Robert DeSalvio said.
“Since Resorts World was granted operations of the Aqueduct site in 2010, we have sought to be a neighbor that Queens deserves, providing 1,000 good union jobs, invested millions of dollars into our neighbors and built everlasting bonds with the community. But we also made them a promise to do more in every sense of the term, and today’s proposal lays out just how we will.”
According to the operator, its New York City proposal currently represents the largest of all bids in terms of site size, build-area and casino floor space.
Good to know: Resorts World Las Vegas appointed Jennifer Roberts to Chief Compliance Officer on April 22, where she will oversee the property’s compliance function, including regulatory and technical compliance, registration and licensing, AML and responsible gaming
Resorts World also projected an opening date of July 2026, as all land-use approvals have been granted and construction will commence once a license is officially granted.
RWNYC has reportedly generated more than $4.5bn in revenue to support New York’s public education fund since originally launching in 2011. The new proposal would also create up to 24,000 jobs and provide community benefits for the surrounding New York City community.
