The La Plata Racetrack in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has announced a series of cultural and recreational activities under the theme ‘discover the racetrack.’
Starting July 18 at noon, with free admission, the venue will host a new edition of Radiomilonga, hosted by Josefina Forastieri and Fernando Maitini. The event features tango music on vinyl, a dance class and live fileteado art, a traditional Argentinian decorative art style.
Horseracing remains a key feature of the venue’s calendar. On Tuesday, July 22, the Hipódromo will host the Isidoro Aramburu Classic, one of the main preparatory races ahead of the Gran Premio Dardo Rocha, scheduled for November 19.
Over the past year, the venue has implemented several upgrades to enhance its services and infrastructure. Improvements include replacing 2,000 meters of fencing with PVC rails, installing new LED lighting, updating the IT system with new servers, upgrading veterinary facilities, leveling the main track and opening a new laboratory.
The Provincial Lottery of Buenos Aires and the Racetrack’s management seek to establish the venue as a year-round hub for the community of La Plata, through this blend of cultural programming and continuous improvements.
Good to know: The Palermo Racetrack in Buenos Aires will also host a food fair with themed cuisine, activities and live DJ performances
In addition, during the winter break in July, Equestrian Experience offers guided tours of the racetrack and its history and a behind-the-scenes look at horse racing.
Later in the year, the Noches Capitales series will launch a new season of concerts in September, featuring performances by Argentine artists such as Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Andrés Calamaro, Los Auténticos Decadentes, Babasónicos and Miranda!.
