Arizona Lottery cracks down on bulk ticket purchases
Any person or group found to have purchased more than $50,000 in Fast Play tickets in 24 hours may be ineligible to claim prizes.

The Arizona Lottery has updated its game rules to dissuade the bulk buying of tickets. Effective immediately, any individual or group who purchases more than $50,000 worth of Fast Play tickets within 24 hours may be ineligible to claim lottery prizes.
The lottery maintains its right to investigate suspicious purchasing behavior, and can do so with the us of CCTV footage, transaction data, retailer reports and other similar tools.
Arizona Lottery Executive Director Alec Thomson said, “Our goal is to ensure that every player has a fair chance at winning and that the integrity of our games remains strong. This update protects our players and supports the Lottery’s mission of maximizing net revenue in a responsible way.”
The move follows the developing legal situation regarding the lottery in Texas. In 2023, an individual was able to win the $95m Lotto Texas jackpot by spending $25m on almost all possible combinations of numbers.

It was described by Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick as “the biggest theft…in the history of Texas,” with Texas Lottery Commission Executive Director Ryan Mindell leaving the organization this April, with the organization itself being abolished on 23 June. Oversight of the lottery is set to be transferred to the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation or the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation as of 1 September 2025.
Such a move from Arizona, therefore, may exist as a direct response and preventative measure to this situation.
