Maryland casino revenue increases 1.9% to $176.4m for May 2025

Maryland Lottery and Gaming has reported the state’s casino gaming revenue throughout the month of May 2025, having witnessed an increase of 1.9% from the prior year period for a total of $176.4m.
Maryland’s six privately owned casinos which report to the regulator each month consist of MGM National Harbor, Live! Casino & Hotel, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, Ocean Downs Casino, Hollywood Casino Perryville and Rocky Gap Casino Resort.
Casino gaming contributions to Maryland throughout May 2025 totaled $76.1m, representing an increase of 2.2% year-over-year and of which nearly $54.5m was donated to the state’s Education Trust Fund.
Casino gaming revenues also support the communities and jurisdictions where the casinos are located, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority- and women-owned businesses.
MGM National Harbor was able to generate the highest gaming revenue total of any property for May 2025, rising by 4.3% from the prior year period for a total of almost $75.4m.
Hollywood Casino and Ocean Downs Casino reported the highest increases of any property from the prior year period, growing by 5% and 6.4%, respectively, to $8.3m and $8.8m.
Good to know: Maryland Lottery and Gaming reported the financial contributions from sports wagering for April 2025 on May 12, having generated a handle of $513.7m throughout the period for an increase of 5.6% year-over-year
Horseshoe Casino was also able to increase its gaming revenue by 3.4% year-over-year to $15.2m, while Live! Casino & Hotel and Rocky Gap Casino Resort reported decreases in gaming revenue of 1.8% and 0.8% from the prior year period, respectively, for May 2025 totals of $63.9m and $4.9m.
With the end of Maryland Lottery and Gaming’s fiscal year approaching – officially concluding on June 30 – casinos have generated a FY2025 gaming revenue of just over $1.8bn, representing an increase of 0.5% from the prior year period.
