Argentina: Multiple people arrested in illegal Mendoza casino

A clandestine casino was discovered in Mendoza, Argentina, where 22 individuals were found participating in unauthorized gambling activities.

A raid was carried out by the General Directorate of Investigations of the Mendoza Police, who entered a residential property in the department of Las Heras.

According to official reports, the casino had been operating for several months in the rear section of a building that appeared to function as a laundromat. Authorities arrested those present at the time of the intervention.

During the raid, officers seized more than ARS 14m ($11,800) in cash, along with an unspecified amount of foreign currency, including US dollars and Chilean pesos. In addition, they confiscated 150 betting chips of different colors and values, multiple dice, decks of playing cards and other equipment commonly used in unregulated gambling operations, according to information provided by the Ministry of Security and Justice.

Those detained may face up to six years in prison for violating Article 301 bis of the Argentine Penal Code, as stated by prosecutor Gabriela García Cobos, who is overseeing the case.
