Maryland reports sports wagering handle of $513.7m for April 2025

Maryland Lottery and Gaming has reported the financial contributions from sports wagering for April 2025, having generated a handle of $513.7m throughout the period for an increase of 5.6% year-over-year, primarily driven by online wagering which accounted for $501.4m of all wagers.
Total contributions to the state’s Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund were reported to be $6.4m for April 2025, equating to an increase of 11.8% from the prior year period, and have totaled over $160.4m since the Fund’s inception during December 2021.
The state had 11 mobile sports wagering platforms and 12 retail sportsbook locations that operated throughout April 2025.
While online wagering managed to generate a revenue figure of more than $58.8m throughout the period, retail sports wagering accounted for just $355.6k of hold and $12.3m of handle for April 2025.

With the combined $59.2m of revenue for sports betting operators during the month, the figure equates to a hold percentage of 11.5%, as players took home $454.5m in prizes for April 2025.
Throughout the first 10 months of fiscal year (FY) 2025, Maryland Lottery and Gaming reported a sports wagering handle of $5.3bn, which equates to an increase of 16.5% from the prior year period. Taxable win for operators has amounted to nearly $479.7m up to this point in FY2025, while contributions to the state have grown 49.9% year-over-year to $71.4m.
