NYS to launch monthly charitable gaming seminars

The Gaming Commission’s Division of Charitable Gaming in New York State will debut a series of free monthly seminars beginning next week.
The first is scheduled for 10:30am Wednesday, February 12. Interested parties must register prior to the event.
Future classes will be available on the second Wednesday of every month.
These seminars offer municipal clerks and organizations an opportunity to learn more about state laws, regulations and rules that govern statewide charitable gaming.
The courses will cover several topics, including ‘how to obtain a games of chance and/or bingo identification number’ and ‘the first step to apply for a license to conduct charitable gaming in NYS,’ as well as ‘the various reporting obligations and financial reports.’
In other charitable gaming news, the New Hampshire Supreme Court has temporarily reversed a decision to revoke Andy Sanborn’s charitable gaming license to operate Concord Casino, according to a local report from the Concord Monitor.
However, the suspension of his license remains in effect.
During 2023, the New Hampshire Lottery Commission and the state’s Attorney General launched an inquiry into Sanborn’s use of pandemic relief funds between January and August 2023.
The investigation found that Sanborn “fraudulently obtained $844,000 in Covid relief funds, which casinos are ineligible to receive, to support his lavish lifestyle.”
Sanborn had filed an appeal against the ruling to revoke his license after the state’s regulator investigated how he had used pandemic relief funds. His attorneys claimed in the appeal that taking Sanborn’s license was an attempt to delay the sale of the casino and confuse potential buyers.
