Third of operators launching in Michigan today are GAN clients
SAAS provider serves Churchill Downs, Wynn Resorts and FanDuel Group.
GAN Limited, a California-based provider of internet gaming software-as-a-service to the internet gaming and online sports betting industries, said it is the SAAS vendor for three operators launching today in Michigan.
Earlier this week, the Michigan Gaming Control Board approved nine gaming operators to launch in the Wolverine State on 22 January. GAN supplies the technical platform to Churchill Downs and its TwinSpires brand, Wynn Resorts/WynnBET, and FanDuel Group.
Michigan is the first of several states to launch TwinSpires on GAN’s platform, with Colorado and Tennessee to follow upon regulatory approval, the company noted. Churchill Downs is in the process of rebranding its BetAmerica brand to TwinSpires. The newly rebranded operations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Indiana will be migrated to GAN’s platform in the first half of 2021.
FanDuel Group launched GAN’s “SuperRGS,” which the company says aggregates a portfolio of online casino gaming content from third-party providers IGT, Scientific Games, NET Entertainment and Everi.
The company cited studies by Regulus Partners and Macquarie Research, which project the Michigan market will generate $439m in gross operator revenue in 2021, increasing to $724m in 2022 and $969m in 2023.
Dermot Smurfit, president and CEO of GAN, said in a statement the company is “proud to enable these giant national gaming brands to move online on day one of Michigan’s market commencement.”
“Back in 2019, our engineering capability was configured to bring new clients online in a serial manner,” Smurfit recalled. “Now, we are launching multiple clients in parallel in a single state. We look forward to expanding our engineering base further in 2021 in order to deliver on the expansionary objectives for these and other clients here in the US as more states continue to rapidly regulate internet gambling.”
