NGCB Chairman Kirk Hendrick to resign following legislative session

Key Points
- Hendrick released a statement announcing his resignation after a conversation with Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo
- He stated that his announcement will allow Governor Lombardo time to find a new Chair and ensure a smooth transition
Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) Chairman Kirk Hendrick has released a statement announcing his intention to resign from the position following an upcoming 120-day legislative session. The Board went on to state that the exact date in which Hendrick will resign as Chairman will be determined in the future.
Hendrick stated that he recently told Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo of his decision to resign despite Governor Lombardo having appointed him to a four-year term in 2023. He previously headed the Attorney General’s gaming division and served as COO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
“I recently had a great conversation with Governor Lombardo, and we discussed how much the Board has accomplished since he appointed me as chairman two years ago. We also discussed more to still be accomplished, including the Board’s priorities for the legislative session starting next month,” Hendrick said.
“Our conversation concluded with me informing the governor of my intention to resign as Board Chair following the legislative session. My announcement today allows Governor Lombardo time to find the next Board Chair and provides for a smooth transition of leadership.”
Good to know: The NGCB released the state’s total gaming win for November 2024 on January 9, 2025, reporting a decrease of 4.2% from the prior year period for a total of $1.3bn
Hendrick would go on to state that he is still “dedicated” to accomplishing more over the next several months. Announcing his intention to resign at this time also helps to notify NGCB agents and employees, as well as members of the Nevada gaming industry, residents and guests.
Hendrick replaced Brittnie Watkins in 2023, who had been the Board’s Acting Chairwoman since 2022 following the departure of Brin Gibson. Watkins also recently announced her intentions to not seek reappointment as a member of the Board, meaning Lombardo is set to fill both positions once the legislative session concludes.
