FanDuel sportsbook launches in Puerto Rico along with retail location

Puerto Rico will represent the 24th state or territory in which the operator has officially begun offering mobile sports betting.
Key Points
- The launch was made possible through FanDuel’s partnership with Cage Sports, which maintains an office in San Juan, Puerto Rico
- FanDuel became the number one sportsbook and iGaming operator in the US by GGR market share, surpassing BetMGM with a 27% share
FanDuel sportsbook is now live in Puerto Rico following the operator’s partnership with Cage Puerto Rico II (Cage Sports), which also includes a new retail location set to be placed where Cage Sports’ office in San Juan is currently located.
Puerto Rico represents the 24th state or territory where FanDuel sportsbook is operational, most recently having launched in Washington DC during July 2024. Residents who are at least 18 years of age will now be able to access FanDuel sportsbook online or sign-up at the retail location in San Juan.
The operator is also offering a first wager sign-up bonus of $200 in bonus bets once the user has placed their first bet of at least $5. FanDuel stated in the announcement that betting on any professional or collegiate sport will not be restricted in Puerto Rico, including the NFL, NBA and college football.
Cage Sports was Co-Founded by Robert Johnson and Robert Washington in 2004 for the purpose of bringing video gaming terminals (VGTs), gaming machines, central computer systems and downloadable content to targeted LatAm and Caribbean countries.
The company currently focuses on the installation, operation and management of video lottery, VGTs, linked gaming systems and content including sports betting throughout the Caribbean and LatAm.

The launch in Puerto Rico comes shortly after Flutter Entertainment, which owns and operates FanDuel, lowered its 2024 US revenue projection by $370m and its US adjusted EBITDA estimation by $205m.
The company stated that the 2024-2025 NFL season has seen favorites win at the highest rate recorded in nearly 20 years, creating one of the most customer-friendly betting periods since the launch of online sports betting.
The results were reported to generate an estimated adverse gross gaming revenue (GGR) impact of $438m, reductions in revenue of approximately $390m and adjusted EBITDA reductions of approximately $260m for the period ranging from November 12 to December 31, 2024.
