San Juan Chamber of Deputies approves regulated online gambling bill in Argentina

In order to regulate the activity of online gambling in its different methods, the Chamber of Deputies in San Juan, Argentina has approved a bill that will look to guarantee public order and eradicate illegal gambling in the province.
After arguments provided by Deputies Franco Aranda and Juan de la Cruz Córdoba, the Legislative body unanimously approved the law, which defines online gambling to be all games of raffles, bets and random combinations in which amounts of money or objects are at stake.
The gaming offerings must also be carried out through digital, electronic, computer, telematic, interactive, telecommunication or those that may be developed in the future.
During the debate, Deputies Horacio Quiroga, Mario Herrero, Marisa López and Juan Carlos Quiroga Moyano also spoke.
The law also considers illegal gambling to be the activity of online gambling carried out by operators which do not have a license authorized by the enforcement authority and intend to carry out activities in the province of San Juan.

Operators which, although properly licensed, do not have the appropriate authorization for the specific game or do not comply with the conditions and requirements established by this law and its respective regulations would be penalized as well.
The enforcement authority must request the blocking of IP addresses, servers, website hosting services, payment methods and any other measure it deems appropriate to stop illegal activity.
The new bill will aim to fight fraud, prevent addictive behaviors and protect the rights of children, girls and adolescents under the age of 18.
