Key Points
- Announcement follows on from an agreement between the pair last year
- MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy bookings are currently outpacing anticipated projections
- Conversion of W Las Vegas anticipated for end of this year
W Las Vegas will soon be converted to the W Hotels brand within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, after an agreement was reached between MGM Resorts International and Marriott International.
In July 2023, the two companies entered into an exclusive, long-term strategic licensing agreement, which saw the creation of MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy; this was launched in October of last year.
And it was in March of this year that the pair started accepting reservations for 16 hotel and resort destinations through Marriott’s website and app.
The conversion of W Las Vegas is expected to be completed later this year and will mean MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy will include 12 destinations on the Las Vegas Strip.
MGM Resorts Operations President Steve Zanella said, “Our relationship with Marriott has far exceeded our expectations, demonstrating the power of its brand portfolio and the strength of their distribution channels.
“W Las Vegas, the latest hotel to come to life as part of our collaboration, will allow our guests to access a new luxury lifestyle experience recognized worldwide for its distinct personality, dynamic programming and elevated service culture.”
Marriott International CFO and EVP, Development Leeny Oberg added, “We’re thrilled to continue working with MGM to bring W Las Vegas to the legendary Las Vegas Strip.
“This agreement is a pivotal moment in our collaboration, which continues to expand hospitality and entertainment offerings for guests. As a luxury brand rooted in bold design and nightlife, W Hotels is well-positioned to elevate experiences for travelers in this destination.”
In other company news, Christian Stuart, SVP, Head of Interactive NA at MGM Resorts and Shimon Akad, Playtech COO, took part in an in-person roundtable as part of the Huddle recently, discussing MGM Live.
