Coljuegos seizes equipment in Nariño tied to illegal ‘24’ game
The regulator also closed six illegal gambling establishments in the region.
Colombia’s Special Operations Group of the National Police and Coljuegos recently seized 15 illegal gaming items at six establishments in Pasto, Nariño. Equipment seized included elements of an illegal game called ’24.’
A person was also taken into custody during the operation for “illegal possession of weapons.”
Coljuegos President Marco Emilio Hincapié took a moment to discuss how the regulator has continued to crack down on illegal gaming throughout the region.
He commented, “For the first time in many years, Coljuegos is reaching all regions of the country to combat illegality. These actions are the result of the pact for legality that we signed last July with the Governor’s Office, the Nariño Lottery and the Superservicios concessionaire. We are joining forces with all territorial entities to protect legality in the industry and transfers for health.
“In our administration there are no forbidden territories, that is why we are writing a new history in the fight against illegal betting that takes resources away from the health of Colombians.”
Coljuegos took possession of three electronic slot machines, two internet betting modules and eight casino tables that were being used for ’24.’
Hincapié added, “Each of the tables of the ’24’ game moves about $10m a day in illegal bets. This is a game that does not provide any type of guarantees to bettors and that, in addition, does not have regulation or authorization from Coljuegos.”
Coljuegos serves Colombia as its regulatory body for games and luck and chance.
