December Revenue Tops $200 Million For The 3rd Straight Month
December was a particularly successful month for the sportsbooks. Wagers for the month totaled $2.38 billion. While that mark only represented a 4.44% increase from a year ago, gross gaming revenue was up 72.7% to $259.7 million, the largest YoY jump of any month this year. It was also the second-most profitable month ever, trailing only November 2025 (280.6 million).
FanDuel and DraftKings continue to establish themselves as industry leaders. FanDuel led all operators, earning 120.1 million in December, while DraftKings pulled in $84 million in revenue for the month.
The combination of rising handle, stronger hold, and sustained demand helped New York betting apps finish 2025 on a historic run. Sportsbooks topped $200 million for the third consecutive month in December, the longest streak ever.
Based on early-year performance over the past two years, that streak appears likely to continue.
New York betting sites continued right where they left off in January, earning more than $70 million in the first week. The College Football Playoff and end of the NFL regular season helped push revenue for the fifth consecutive week.
NY Sports Betting Has Generated Nearly $4 Billion To Education
New York’s tax structure continued to deliver substantial returns for the state, with sportsbooks paying a 51% tax rate on gross gaming revenue. That model has generated nearly $4 billion in education funding since mobile sports betting launched, far outpacing tax collections in other legal markets nationwide.
After the Super Bowl, attention will shift toward the NBA and March Madness as the next major drivers of betting activity.
Early January results suggest operators have maintained strong engagement levels heading into 2026, positioning New York for another year near the top of the national sportsbook landscape.
