Connecticut's Mohegan Sun introduces UV devices to disinfect smartphones in bid to protect customer's health during cold and flu season.

Mohegan Sun has announced a partnership with iCleanse.

The startup provides high-definition advertising screens coupled with chemical-free Swift UV to disinfect smartphones.

Swift UV (nothing to do with Taylor Swift, sadly) is known to combat Covid-19, RSV, influenza and other pathogens.

The disinfection process takes approximately 15 seconds while a site-specific promotional video is displayed on the screen.

At the Mohegan Sun, each unit showcases an advertisement for various on-site merchants throughout the casino resort.

The Swift UV units can be found in busy sections of the property such as the Mohegan Sun’s two casinos, the 130,000 square foot shopping area and the Sky Tower hotel lobby.

CEO of iCleanse Chris Allen shared his thoughts: “Our partnership with Mohegan Sun represents another milestone in adopting Swift UV technology. By combining ultraviolet technology with place-based advertising, we deliver dual benefit to any merchant or organization with public space.”

CMO of Mohegan Sun Kimberly Noto also commented: “We chose Swift UV units based on their easy deployment, efficient operation, and ability to have additional on-site advertising for our entertainment offerings and promos.

“By providing multiple Swift UV units, we’re helping to ensure a healthier environment for all of our guests while benefiting our more than 70 restaurants, bars, lounges, and retail offerings that make our resort such a unique experience.”

The Swift UV units have been installed throughout the property in time for the cold and flu season.

In other related news, Mohegan Sun recently hosted a large event for ‘The Big Game’ over Super Bowl weekend. In December 2023, the property also opened a Tesla showroom.
