The two agreed to a written designation agreement that would allow the DraftKings Sportsbook to operate in the state.

DraftKings and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) have agreed to terms that will allow DraftKings to launch its sportsbook in the Old North State. Following licensing and regulatory approvals, DraftKings will be able to begin operations in North Carolina.

DraftKings and NASCAR have been in collaboration for some time, with the announcement also stating that DraftKings will be the exclusive daily fantasy sports betting partner for NASCAR in the US and Canada. Furthermore, DraftKings will become an Authorized Gaming Operator of NASCAR, on top of additional NASCAR sponsorship benefits.

On their continued collaboration and upcoming launch, DraftKings’ North American President Matt Kalish said, “DraftKings and NASCAR have collaborated closely with each other over the years... We look forward to the next chapter in our journey together and offering our leading mobile sportsbook to fans in the state of North Carolina.”

The launch into North Carolina will mark the 27th state to license the DraftKings Sportsbook. Other states to introduce DraftKings include Massachusetts and Ohio, with DraftKings now earning more than industry leader FanDuel in the Buckeye State, generating $22.5m in November alone. DraftKings also intends to go live in Vermont on January 11.

The state of Massachusetts is currently filing a class action lawsuit against DraftKings for unfair business practices.

NASCAR’s Managing Director Joe Solosky expressed excitement about the continued partnership. “DraftKings has a proven track record of enhancing the fan experience across sports.

"We are thrilled to continue working with DraftKings to deliver NASCAR fans more engagement opportunities and bring its leading mobile sportsbook to North Carolina.”
