The land-based casino held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcomed nearly 1,000 patrons.

DraftKings Sportsbook has opened a location at the Queen Baton Rogue in Louisiana. The retail location welcomed close to 1,000 guests following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

During the celebration, The Queen Gaming & Entertainment President and CEO Terry Downey gave a welcome speech. Other notable guests in attendance were Mayor-President of Baton Rouge Sharon Weston Broome, The Queen Baton Rouge General manager, Matthew Shehadi, former LSU Tiger and NFL quarterback Matt Flynn and Ronnie S. Johns, Chairman of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

The Queen Baton Rouge is home to 100,000 square feet of gaming space. The land-based destination was previously the historic riverboat casino, Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge and was recently renovated as part of an $85m redevelopment project. The Queen Baton Rouge is the city’s first land-based casino and is open to the public 24 hours a day.

In other DraftKings news, the operator recently launched its first horseracing product, DK Horse in 12 US states, in partnership with CDI. The digital gaming operator planned to release the standalone app in additional states before this year’s Kentucky Derby.

DraftKings and CDI first announced their multi-year partnership last November and have teamed up to “power the advance deposit pari-mutuel wagering technology for DK Horse.”

Elsewhere, it's an exciting time for DraftKings, which is cutting its losses and increasing its revenue at a rapid pace.

It is challenging FanDuel for the #1 spot in markets across the US, including Kentucky, where it is soon set for launch alongside other high-profile brands.
