Senator Vince Polistina has proposed a 10-year extension on the authorization of online gambling. The Senate Budget and Appropriations committee has advanced this request.
The bill known as S-3075, which supports the use of online gambling by casinos, aims to extend the authorization of online gaming services through to 2033.
Online casino gambling was legalized in New Jersey in 2013 and was authorized for a 10-year period, which is set to expire in November 2023. Senator Polistina’s bill, S-3075, revises the existing authorization and extends it for an additional 10-year period, ending in 2033.
In correlation to the extension, Polistina points out all the good online gambling has done for New Jersey over the last decade. The Senator stated that internet gaming has created a variety of well-paying jobs for the community, as well as generating millions of dollars in tax revenue for the state.
Polistina said: “The legalization of online gambling and sports betting was a catalyst for struggling casinos in the aftermath of the Great Recession.
“In places like Atlantic City, internet gaming has created a number of good paying jobs for workers as well as generating millions of dollars in tax revenues for the state. This legislation would extend the authorization of online gaming services through 2033 to ensure stability in the gambling industry.
“Internet gaming has kept New Jersey at the forefront of an evolving gambling industry. This extension supports the integral role that the internet plays in shaping the current and future success of casinos in New Jersey.”
