The Make-A-Wish Foundation in Southern Nevada has helped a girl named Destiny perform a debut show at the Palm Casino Resort.
Make-A-Wish was founded in 1980 and provides once-in-a-lifetime experiences to children with serious illnesses. The Southern Nevada branch was founded in 1996. Make-A-Wish was able to achieve this in partnership with The Palms Casino Resort and Palms Cares, the casino's charity program.
Destiny was diagnosed with cancer in 2019. She subsequently underwent surgery and has had a series of chemotherapy and surgical treatments.
Thanks to Make-A-Wish and Palms Cares, Destiny has worked with several successful music producers who have helped her create two original songs.
A listening party was arranged to premier her new songs on stage at Pearl Theatre, at The Palms Casino Resort. Destiny was given the full superstar experience, with VIP service, posters advertising the event and huge cheers from the crowd as she arrived.
Scott Rosenzweig, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada, said, “Wishes aren’t possible without the efforts and generosity of our partners. Destiny’s wish demonstrates the power of a community’s ability to make life-changing wishes happen for children with critical illnesses. The Palms team went above and beyond for Destiny, and we are so thankful to them for making the day extraordinary.”
Cynthia Kiser Murphey, General Manager of Palms Casino Resort, said, "It was our absolute pleasure to host Destiny and Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada. Positively impacting lives in our community is significant to us. We were humbled to be selected to grant her wish and seeing Destiny’s smile and amazing voice was priceless.”
