The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has released the state’s iGaming and sports betting results from the month of April. The state generated $195.7m in total revenue derived from sports betting and iGaming.
Results from last month reflected a 9.6% decrease in activity when compared to March’s report.
In a breakdown of the month’s results, iGaming raked in $159.4m in gross receipts. Sports betting during April contributed $36.3m in gross receipts to the combined total. April’s iGaming result, however, did not reach the previous all-time high of $171.8m set in March.
The state’s total online sports betting handle fell by 20.8% when compared to results from March. April’s online sports betting handle reached $322.8m.
Last month, 15 Michigan operators offered players access to online sports betting and iGaming. Michigan operators contributed $31m in payments and taxes to the state during the month. Taxes and payments paid out from iGaming totaled $29.4m, while online sports betting pitched in another $1.6m.
The city of Detroit’s three casinos paid out close to $8.1m in wagering taxes and municipal services in April. Nearly $7.5m was generated from iGaming taxes and fees. Online sports betting chipped in $620,743.
Michigan’s Tribal operators posted a $3.6m in payments in April to governing bodies.
Michigan has been a hotspot for several recent iGaming launches. Both Inspired Entertainment and FanDuel recently agreed to launch iGaming content in the state of Michigan through their continued partnership.
The release will include four Inspired titles. Michigan players will have access to Big Fishing Fortune, Big Santa Fortune, Gold Cash Free Spins and Big Spin Bonus through the upcoming FanDuel launch.
