Hard Rock International, as part of an ongoing partnership with World Wildlife Fund (WWF), will turn off its lights in hotels, casinos and cafes during the Annual Earth Hour movement. The brand’s actions for climate change awareness align with its motto “Save the Planet.”
Starting at 8:30pm in each property’s local time, the Hard Rock locations will “go dark.” However, guests at participating restaurants, bars, hotels and outdoor spaces will be given the option to engage with candle-lit dinners, acoustic musical performances, flame shows, Roxity Kids Club events and other activities provided without the use of electricity.
Hard Rock International and WWF have conserved over 603,000 kilowatts to date through the Earth Hour movement. In 2022 alone, 114 Hard Rock properties across two dozen countries saved approximately 391,800 kilowatts of electricity.
Paul Pellizzari, VP of Global Social Responsibility for Hard Rock International, said, "It's with great enthusiasm each year that Hard Rock partners with World Wildlife Fund for Earth Hour in support of its continued mission to protect the future of nature and create impact together.
"As one of our four founding mottos, Hard Rock is committed to ‘Save the Planet,’ and we're thrilled to unite team members from all over the world for this worthy cause, while inspiring others for the good of the planet."
Hard Rock has made efforts to increase its sustainability concerning waste, energy and water. Together with Seminole Gaming, Hard Rock has also diverted 13,660 lbs of plastic waste by participating in the Clean the World Hospitality Recycling Program.
WWF’s Annual Earth Hour aims to encourage countries and landmarks as well as businesses to switch off their lights, and host events to spread climate change awareness around the world.
Pellizzari recently spoke to Gaming America on the GA Huddle.
