Amelco, a sports betting and platform provider, has confirmed that it has launched in Ohio and that its product has been live since January 1 (when the Buckeye State launched sports betting). The company’s confirmation follows regulatory approval by Ohio's gaming commission.
Amelco offers an end-to-end platform across North America and currently spans 12 states. Two additional jurisdictions will be announced in the near future.
This Ohio launch will be seen as a milestone for Amelco, with the Buckeye State recording one of the most successful gambling launches in US gambling history.
During the New Year weekend, over 11 million transactions were recorded overall across the state. It surpassed the launches of New York, New Jersey and other states known for their enthusiastic sports betting demographics.
In total, there are currently 16 sportsbooks live in the Buckeye State which includes prominent names such as BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetRivers and Caesars.
More recently, Jack Entertainment added its name to this list, launching its BetJack sports betting product in the Buckeye State. BetJack takes bets at its Jack Cleveland Casino and Jack Thistledown Racino locations.
The Ohioan market is an ultra-competitive market due to its high population and the extensive success of its sports teams, including the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Guardians and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Amelco Head of US Brandon Walker commented: “This is another major stepping stone in Amelco’s extensive plans for expansion in the US, and we look forward to bringing our offering to an increased audience of sports bettors.
“We expect the excitement to only increase and we are really interested to see what the numbers are going to look like over the next few months. In terms of our product, no one offers a full-service end-to-end solution as we do at Amelco. We deliver everything under one roof which no other provider can do.”
