It recorded more transactions in its first two days than any other state it has launched in.

Affiliate Catena Media has recorded its strongest-ever sports betting launch for a US state with Ohio, reporting all-time-high revenue from new player registrations. GeoComply previously shared data showing that 11.3 million transactions had occurred over New Year’s weekend.

According to preliminary statistics, strong player engagement surpassed Catena’s highly successful New York launch in January 2022. It notched more transactions in its first two days than any other state to go live with sports betting since PASPA’s repeal in 2018.

Catena Media VP of North America Ryan Harper commented: “This is, without doubt, our strongest state sports betting launch period to date. We're delighted to see strong traffic on our websites in relation to the Ohio launch. Player engagement in licensed sports betting has been very solid."

This promising start puts the group in a strong position for the upcoming sports-heavy first quarter, which will include the Super Bowl and March Madness; two of the biggest events on the sports calendar.

Catena conducts affiliation operations in Ohio via its national brands such as LegalSportsReport.com, GamingToday.com, TheLines.com and Lineups.com, as well as prominent regional websites such as PlayOhio.com.

Ohio is the seventh-most populous US state and is now Catena Media's fourth-largest market by population. The Buckeye State is the sixth North American market launch in the past year after New York, Louisiana, Ontario, Kansas and Maryland.

Recently, Catena Media selected Carnegie Investment Bank AB as its financial advisor. Carnegie will assist Catena Media by “assessing strategic options” and hold conversations with various third parties that are interested in acquiring part or all the group’s remaining assets.
