The state will allow the sports betting platform to begin operations on September 1.

A provisional sports wagering certification by the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission has been awarded to PointsBet, giving them clearance to start operations on September 1.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed sports betting legislation into law in May, allowing online and retail betting in the state from September.

PointsBet CEO and Managing Director Sam Swanell commented: "We are excited to be launching on the starting line and having our outstanding sportsbook product available to the people of Kansas from day one.

"With NFL season kicking off on September 9, the timing is perfect to showcase our NFL in-play betting capabilities in particular."

Shares in PointsBet were up 1.89% and trading at $3.24 shortly after the announcement.

PointsBet was also able to secure a "primary skin" agreement with Kansas Crossing Casino.

Based in Australia, the company is also set to launch a sports betting newsletter through a partnership with sports media company Front Office Sports to help expand its presence in the US.

The newsletter will be sent out three times a week with plans to extend it to five times a week in the fall. The newsletter targets PointsBet's existing list of roughly 1 million free email subscribers.

At launch, Kansas will represent the company’s eleventh online sportsbook operation in the US. PointsBet has already launched in New Jersey, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado, Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia, New York and Pennsylvania.

PointsBet also recently revealed its financial numbers for 2022 and its Q4 2021 numbers.

For 2022, the company announced a 48% increase over 2021, with $309.4m generated throughout the company.
