SharpLink Gaming, a sports betting technology company, has announced the appointment of Robert DeLucia as its CFO. DeLucia is replacing Brian Bennett, who is choosing to leave the company to pursue new career opportunities.
Before joining SharpLink, DeLucia was recruited as interim CFO of Neon Logistics, where he was tasked with leading the company’s financial restatements and pivoting toward the US. Through most of 2021 he was chief accounting officer at GTT Communications, an internet backbone service supplier.
DeLucia was credited for successfully restructuring GGT’s finances and served as one of the leaders of the $2bn sale of its fiber backbone division. Prior to this role, he served as Controller of Eastern Airlines during its business reboot from January 2020 through to November 2020.
Before this, he worked at Tarsus CFO Services, providing fractional CFO services to mid-sized private equity firms. In his earlier career, DeLucia took on senior finance-based roles at a variety of companies, including Digital Bridge Communications, MOD Systems Incorporated and Clearwire Communications.
SharpLink CEO Rob Phythian commented: “Bob is a proven CFO with a superior track record of delivering results for a wide range of companies spanning a range of global industries. We believe he is a high-impact executive who brings a compelling blend of strategic and capital management discipline, operating skills in high-growth environments and expertise in mergers and acquisitions, capital formation, audit oversight and implementations, SEC reporting and compliance.
“We are delighted to welcome Bob to the SharpLink leadership team and look forward to working in close collaboration with him to move SharpLink through its next phase of exciting growth.”
