DraftKings unveils promotions ahead of Kansas debut

Betting is expected to commence on January 1, 2023.

DraftKings has announced it is offering $100 worth of free bets for anybody that signs up to use its forthcoming sportsbook in Kansas.

As part of DraftKings’ push to attract consumers to its newest product, it’s also said one lucky person will receive a free $100,000 bet on launch day, so long as customers register with the app prior to launch.

The sportsbook operator is still pending licensure and regulatory approval in the Sunflower State, which legalized sports betting officially on 12 May 2022, but DraftKings are confident approval will be granted, somethnig evident by the offers it is currently advertising to potential customers.

When the sportsbook is live, customers will be able to place legal and regulated bets on various sports, including baseball, soccer, football and college sports.

The operator already has its platform running in 17 other states, reaching 36% of the US population. And, while there is still no confirmed launch date for the sportsbook in Kansas, experts believe customers will be able to place bets by January 1, 2023.

Currently, there are no online sports betting systems live in Kansas, as the law came in on 1 July. But in May, DraftKings reached an agreement with Bally Bet in Dodge City to operate a retail sportsbook in the Boot Hill Casino & Resort, which is expected to launch in the fall.

The legalization of gambling continues to grow in the US, following the Supreme Court’s decision to decision to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sport Protection Act in 2018, with Massachusetts the latest to open its doors to the gambling market.
