Appointees Maren Lau and Tim Dent come from a technology background.

Payments company Nuvei has expanded its board of directors by adding two new members: Maren Lau and Tim Dent. Both of the new independent directors come from a technology background.

With the new appointements, Nuvie’s board has grown to eight members. Additionally, it is closer to hitting its goal of achieving its gender diversity target (30% of female representation on the board by the end of 2023).

Lau is currently a regional vice president at Meta, and her beat is Latin America. Her remit is to expand long-term business prospects for the company across the region. Meta (formerly known as Facebook) is making a huge push to help develop what it regards as the next stage in the internet’s social connectivity: the metaverse.

Prior to this role, Mau was CMO at IMS, a digital marketing company. While there, she grew the company’s sales capacity and helped developed marketing strategies to suit the Latin American market.

Dent comes from DraftKings, where he was chief financial and compliance officer. His over 20 years of online gaming experience, means that he was working with the betting behemoth at a very early stage in its development.

Among his accomplishments from that time were the growth of the company’s legal and legislative affairs arms, its risk management capacity and payments functions.

Before DraftKings, Dent was at Everest Gaming, the European online operator.

Nuvei CEO Philip Fayer struck a sanguine tone when discussing the new appointments: “Both Maren and Tim are proven leaders who bring extensive knowledge and experience that is beneficial to our business and highly relevant to our growing industry verticals and geographies.

“They are outstanding additions to our board and we look forward to working with and learning from them.”
