This enables GiG to expand its sportsbook into an exciting newly-regulated market.

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has been awarded a supplier license to operate in Ontario, enabling it to partner with Canadian-based operators in the province. Ontario is still a relatively newly-regulated market that most gaming operators consider a lucrative proposition.

According to statistics made available by H2 Gambling Data, the Ontarian market is expected to grow to $2bn in gross gaming revenue over the next three years. The province’s iGaming debuted only three months ago, so GiG has made an early entrance on the scene.

The registration was granted to GiG by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). The license will cover the company’s comprehensive B2B sportsbook and player account management (PAM) which it obtained via its subsidiary Sportnco.

GiG bolstered the company’s assets with the $51.3m purchase of Sportnco, an online sports betting platform in December last year. They operate in many locations, including Malta, Marbella and Copenhagen.

Obtaining this license means that GiG can steadily expand the list of regulated markets supported by its sportsbook: now 22 in total with another four pending. This further strengthens its ability to be the technical supplier of choice of those operators, which include names such as the World Sports Network (WSN) and Casinotopsonline.com.

GiG General Counsel Claudio Caruana says: “In receiving the registration from the AGCO, we have reached another important milestone in our resolute commitment to supporting the iGaming industry for regulated markets, and we’re delighted to be prepared to power new and potential partners in the province.”
