So far, the only US state to report growth year-over-year for the month.

Illinois has released its casino revenue numbers for the month of June. The state reported a total revenue for its 11 casinos of close to $110.7m for last month. The total reflects a 5% increase year-of-year for Illinois, something no other state has achieved so far in June.

Land-based revenue rose as year-over-year as well by 18%, according to the state’s June report. The state posted significant increases in sports betting and iGaming during the month, reflecting a boost of 59% and 85% respectively.

However, Illinois didn’t stop there. During June, the state defied post-sport season declining trends that have affected other states since both the NFL and NBA seasons have ended.

Currently, the MLB is the only major US sports league that is active during the summer.

Despite the boost in year-over-year figures, Illinois’ casinos experienced a slump in numbers month-over-month.

Caesars’ operating revenue fell by 5% to $64.8m during June, with Penn National and Hard Rock International Redford reporting 8% and 16% drops respectively, when compared to revenue figures from May.

Penn National raked in a total revenue of $30.9m in Illinois during the month of June.

A couple casinos in the state helped to offset the decline and push up total statewide revenue. Both DraftKings at Casino Queen reported boosts in activity. DraftKings saw a 23% revenue increase when compared to numbers from May, generating a total revenue for June of $6.5m.

Bally’s Quad Cities and Rivers-Des Plaines posted successful June months as well, with an increase for Bally’s of 17% and a rise in revenue for Rivers-Des Plaines of 12%.
