The BetMGM Poker Championship will take place at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, from June 23-26.

BetMGM, the sports betting arm of MGM Resorts International, is set to bring a new poker tournament to Las Vegas this summer.

The BetMGM Poker Championship, scheduled for June 23-26 at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, will have a prize pool of $1m and a buy-in of $3,500.

"The first-ever BetMGM Poker Championship descends on Las Vegas during one of the most exciting times of the poker season," said Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker, BetMGM.

"ARIA is a legendary poker brand and we're thrilled that the Championship has become an integral part of this year's Poker Classic. Through our relationship with MGM Resorts and its world-class US properties, we'll continue to leverage event programming and connect with players both online and in their favorite poker rooms."

At least 15 players from each US live poker market will emerge victorious from this new poker tournament.

This announcement comes just days after the gaming stalwart announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2022.

Specifically, consolidated net revenue for the quarter was $2.9bn, a 73% boost when compared to the $1.6bn of the prior year period. This improvement has been attributed to the recovery of MGM Resort's land-based properties.

"We delivered a strong first quarter in our domestic operations driven by weekend demand and a better mix of business. The results demonstrate the robust demand for our gaming entertainment offerings with the backdrop of increased sports and entertainment programming in the Las Vegas market," said Bill Hornbuckle, CEO and President of MGM Resorts International.
