Online Payments company AstroPay has announced a new initiative that will see the company expand its presence across Latin America. Through this move, AstroPay is set to launch its Payment Links product in Peru, Chile, Mexico and Colombia.
This follows the launch of Payment Links in Brazil last year and is part of the brand’s effort to launch the product worldwide in the near future.
Payment Links is designed for small and medium-sized companies and works to enable payments via cell phone numbers.
AstroPay CEO Mikael Lijtenstein, noted: “Many micro and small businesses could not reach the volume threshold required to make accepting credit card payments a financial feasibility, so they need online payment options that not only open up a world of new revenue streams and opportunities, but make it possible to compete with the big companies.
“Payment Links are cost-effective and offer flexibility and ease of operations for these businesses.”
With this launch, AstroPay is seemingly looking to capitalize on the ever-growing gaming market across LatAm.
The payments brand has highlighted the potential of this market, noting the size of the small and medium enterprises in both Chile and Mexico, where the industry represents 65.5% and 99% of all businesses respectively.
First founded in 2009, AstroPay has operations across Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe. Currently, the brand’s offering serves approximately 5 million users in these markets.
The payments brand has recently agreed a number of sponsorship agreements in the sporting world. One of these partnerships saw the company become an official sponsor of Crystal Palace Football Club in the English Premier League.
