This Friday, FanDuel is set to launch its mobile sportsbook offering across the Bayou State. This release, which follows the recent opening of five FanDuel retail sportsbooks in the region, will see the operator’s betting app become available in 55 of the state's 64 parishes.
Achieved in partnership with Boyd Gaming, the operator’s platform will be offered under Treasure Chest’s sports betting license. Boyd currently operates 28 properties across 10 states. Moreover, the company is a strategic partner and 5% equity owner of FanDuel.
FanDuel, which is one of the country’s most dominant sports betting forces, evidently sees this as an opportunity to grow its ever-expanding influence. The operator’s platform includes same game parlay and a full guide to help beginners get started.
From 8am CT on January 28, users will be able to bet on professional and college football, the NBA, MLB, NHL, golf, MMA and soccer.
While this marks the start of mobile sports betting in the Pelican State, retail betting has been operational for a number of months. So far, the NFL has been king at bringing in new bettors, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being the most bet on team.
FanDuel is not the only operator launching its offering this coming Friday, with DraftKings set to begin mobile operations on the same day.
This launch is undoubtedly an exciting time for a number of operators, with Matt Kalish, Co-Founder and President of DraftKings, stating: “The arrival of mobile betting greatly enhances accessibility and adoption potential within the Pelican State.”
Another operator set to launch its offering is WynnBet. However, just this week reports emerged that the brand’s parent company, Wynn Resorts, is looking to sell the sportsbook at a reduced price following high taxes and steep competition from more established brands.
