The company’s global lottery operations have been awarded the World Lottery Association certificate with a focus on healthy play.

Scientific Games is continuing its push to promote responsible gaming through the earning of the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming Framework Certificate of Alignment for its global lottery operations.

These certificates, which are audited by an independent and international panel of experts, are awarded by the WLA following careful examination of a company’s retail and digital offerings.

This award follows the launch of Scientific Games’ Healthy Play program in 2020. This initiative saw the company work to promote healthy enjoyment of its lottery products through player education. This was later followed by the Healthy Play Guide and, in 2022, users will be able to access the Healthy Play website.

Carla Schaefer, VP of Responsible Gaming for Scientific Games Lottery, is evidently proud of this award.

"Scientific Games is honored to receive WLA's Responsible Gaming Certification, which recognizes our ongoing commitment to Healthy Play across our global lottery organization," they said.

"We want to give our lottery customers tools and best practices to help them market their products in healthy and responsible ways. Our Healthy Play program helps lotteries educate their players, establish trust and increase lottery literacy."

Scientific Games initially aided in the creation of the WLA certificate and subsequently, went on to become one of the first gaming companies to gain certification in 2015.

"In the global lottery industry, Scientific Games has truly established its leadership role in responsible gaming," added Mélissa Azam, Senior Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, World Lottery Association.

"The company's Healthy Play program, which provides lotteries with real tools to support their own responsible gaming programs, demonstrates Scientific Games integration of the WLA Responsible Gaming Principles throughout the organization, and its investment in the future of the lottery industry. WLA is proud to support Scientific Games' Global Responsible Gaming Certification and congratulates the company on its longstanding and continued commitment to responsible gaming."
