Casinos in Nevada won more than $1.3bn from gamblers during November, according to figures released Wednesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
The November take marked the ninth consecutive month in which Nevada casinos posted more than $1bn in winnings – the best such streak in the state’s history, topping the previous mark set in 2007.
Last month’s house win was up 71.38% compared to November 2020, when licensees reported a gaming win of $771,178,057.
November 2021 saw an increase of 8.2% from the previous month’s $1.221bn. It was up 40.9% from the reported $937,471,737 for the month of November 2019, the last comparable month prior to the pandemic.
During the current fiscal year (July 1, 2021 through November 30, 2021), gaming win has increased 59.07%, the NGCB said.
Casinos in Clark County – home to the Las Vegas and Laughlin resort areas – contributed the bulk of the November 2021 figures with $1.159bn in house win, up slightly from $1.056bn in October. Last month was up significantly from $639m in November 2020, and from $805m in November 2019.
The house win for the properties on the Las Vegas Strip for November was slightly more than $755m, a small increase from $702m in October. Strip casinos brought in $349.7m in November 2020, and $517.9m in November 2019.
The Downtown Las Vegas area showed dramatic growth, with a house win last month of $82.8m, up incrementally from $76m the previous month, but a jump of 56.3% from $52.9m the same month one year earlier. The November 2021 figure is up 59.1% from two years earlier, when Downtown casinos won $52m.
Of course, it remains to be seen what effect – if any – the rapidly spreading Omicron Covid variant has on tourism going forward.
